BC Grade 12 students recognized for achievements in studying Chinese

Vancouver, BC — Grade 12 students from across the province were recognized last night at the Chinese Consulate General in Vancouver for their achievements in the study of Mandarin Chinese.

The BC-China Award for Excellence in Chinese recognizes Grade 12 students from public and independent schools who achieved academic excellence in the study of Mandarin Chinese as a second language. Recipients must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents in BC schools who are learning Mandarin Chinese for the first time.

Jointly funded by the British Columbia Ministry of Education and the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Vancouver, the award helps promote the study of Chinese language and culture by BC students developing their intercultural awareness and skills.

In total, 50 students received the BC-China Award valued at $500 each.
