BC Studies in China Alumni Networking Reception Attended by Chinese Government Scholarship Recipients
The Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China and BC Council for International Education (BCCIE) recently co-hosted the fifth BC Studies in China Alumni Network (BCSCAN) Reception at the Simon Fraser University Harbour Centre in Vancouver. Over 50 local BC students and alumni who have studied in China gathered for the event. BCSCAN was launched in 2015 to provide a forum for BC students and alumni that have taken the invaluable decision and opportunity to pursue studies or co-op placements in China, on either a short or longer term academic program of study.
Last week’s event was a great success and attended by the Chinese Deputy Consul General, Weiwei Kong, and the Executive Director of BCCIE, Dr. Randall Martin. Stuart McILmoyle, Associate Vice President (International) of Kwantlen Polytechnic University attended the reception and shared his stories of learning Chinese in China, including Hong Kong and Taiwan. The New Chinese Government Scholarship recipients for this year were invited to the reception and received Scholarship Certificate Letters from the Deputy Consul General. With financial supports from the Chinese government, they will be pursuing excellent education opportunities in China and learning about Chinese language and culture.
