AI for Cultural Empathy: Leveraging GenAI to Enhance Intercultural Understanding
In today’s globalized world, cultivating intercultural competencies is essential for fostering meaningful connections across diverse cultural contexts. This session explores the innovative potential of Generative AI (GenAI) as a tool for enhancing intercultural sensitivity, guided by Milton Bennett’s Developmental Model of Intercultural Sensitivity (DMIS).
Participants will discover how GenAI can simulate culturally complex scenarios, facilitate reflection, and provide personalized feedback to support skill development at every stage of the DMIS—from recognizing cultural differences to embracing ethno-relative perspectives. Through hands-on demonstrations, attendees will engage with AI-powered interactive simulations designed to tackle real-world cultural challenges. These tools enable users to practice navigating misunderstandings, resolving conflicts, and building cultural empathy in a safe and dynamic learning environment.
This session is ideal for professionals in international education, cross-cultural training, and leadership development seeking innovative ways to prepare global citizens for a diverse and interconnected world.
