BCCIE was fortunate to be joined by ABRUEM in Whistler, BC, for the annual Summer Seminar conference. ABRUEM is a leading delegation of Brazilian rectors representing 46 public state and municipal universities throughout Brazil. 

On the morning of June 23, members of ABRUEM participated in a Presidents’ Panel on the topic of Innovation in International Partnerships. The delegation was led by UNESP External Relations Advisor, José Celso Freire Jr. 

Summer Seminar was just one stop on the itinerary for the Brazilian rectors, who toured Canada from June 13–26 with the goal of establishing partnerships and connections with Canadian educational institutions in areas such as Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver, Whistler and Calgary.

The incoming delegation was coordinated by Universities Canada (formerly AUCC) and led by His Excellency of Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada.
