Who Should Participate?
Heads of international; senior level administration and faculty from EQA-designated private and public degree-granting post-secondary institutions. This initiative is primarily focused on institutional partnership development. Attendees are free to choose participation in individual events. Full participation is not required, but RSVPs will be requested for chosen events.
Background
The province of BC has been committed to advancing academic partnerships between Mexico and BC over the past number of years. Recently, with two memoranda of understanding between the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training, the Ministry of Education and Child Care, and Jalisco and Guanajuato. Concurrently, BCCIE renewed agreements with Mexican Association for International Education (AMPEI), Institute for Development and Attention to Youth from GTO State, Mexico (JuventudEsGTO) and the Jalisco Higher Education Consortium.
In 2021, there were 6,250 international students from Mexico studying at all levels in BC, representing 3 percent of all international students in BC. Mexico ranked as the fifth top source country for international students in the province.
Significant opportunity exists to advance and grow institutions’ respective internationalization objectives at all levels in Mexico. This initiative is designed to advance BC’s international education sector goals with deference to BC’s international education framework.
