Market support is the backbone of what we do. We help the BC international education sector to position our province as the leading destination for international learners.
To do this, we coordinate valuable and timely marketing activities for our stakeholders.
These may include:
- In-country visits to schools and with government education partners
- Marketing and recruitment fairs
- Agent training and networking
- Country briefings by Canadian consular officials
- Local familiarization tours (FAM Tours)
Team BC Missions
BCCIE works in partnership with the government and the sector to develop international mission trips under the StudyinBC brand. These missions build on recruitment and engagement efforts in various overseas markets, such as China, Japan, South Korea, India, and Brazil. Each year, international education practitioners in the K-12, Post-secondary, and Language sectors take part in missions to help position our Province – and their institution – as a world-class learning environment.
Our efforts align with the Canadian Embassy Fairs. We create BC Zones at the Fairs, as well as offering further BC value-added engagement activities through seminars, roundtables, agent training, one-on-one meetings, school visits, agent mini fairs, education MOU signing ceremonies, and alumni networking. All these approaches help to maximize BC stakeholders’ expectations and achievements during the trips and build up new relationships and networks in the markets. Numerous leads for potential partnership and cooperation can be generated at our events to be further pursued and developed post-event.

BC Coordination at Signature Events
BCCIE works in partnership with our colleagues from government to organize BC value-added events at signature events both within and outside of Canada.
These events are an opportunity to give visibility to BC as an excellent study destination as well as to speak to stakeholders, partners, students, and families about what it means to study in BC.
For a full listing of BC coordinated activities, please see the Events Page.
Note: In order to be eligible to participate in the British Columbia area within the Canada Pavilion, your institution, school or district must be in Canada brand eligible*, and booth representatives must register for the full conference.

BC Study Abroad
Studying abroad is one of the most important and transformational activities a student may ever pursue. BC Study Abroad (BCSA) makes short-term study abroad more accessible, affordable and enjoyable for both students and institutions. BCSA is administered by BCCIE on behalf of a consortium of BC post-secondary institutions. The BCSA consortium enables students from one participating BC post-secondary institution to attend the study abroad program of another and receive transfer credits.
Students can access BCStudyAbroad for up to date information on all study abroad programs and to apply online to the program of their choice.
Why participate in the consortium?
The consortium gives participating BC institutions the opportunity to promote their own study abroad programs province-wide while fulfilling key goals of internationalization and supporting best practices in student experience.
Consortium benefits:
- Marketing reach - Member institutions can promote study abroad programs to over 350,000 students province-wide.
- Viability - Smaller and regional institutions can more readily offer study abroad programs thanks to province-wide marketing and exposure.
- Scholarships - Students can access scholarships available only to consortium institutions.
- Diversity - The consortium promotes diversity amongst study abroad participants.
