Re-cap of the 2016 CONAHEC Conference in San Luis Potosi, Mexico
Global Grand Challenges: Channeling International Collaboration was this year’s theme of the Consortium for North American Higher Education Collaboration (CONAHEC) 17th Conference, which was generously hosted by Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí (UASLP) in San Luis Potosí, Mexico from March 16–18, 2016.
BCCIE was very pleased to join this year’s conference as delegates explored Higher Education developments pertaining to the increasing economic integration and intercultural interaction shared amongst Canada, the United States and Mexico. Approximately 180 institutions and 260 delegates contested ideas, connected with existing and new colleagues and explored innovative avenues for future collaboration. During the conference CONAHEC also introduced David Atkinson new incoming President of the Board of Directors and President, MacEwan University.
Colin Doerr of BCCIE participated in the closing panel that explored “The Regionalization of Internationalization in North America” by drawing on examples of BC’s initiatives that exemplify collaboration toward creating higher education ecosystems that successfully work to advance International Education engagement.
BCCIE looks forward to continuing collaboration with CONAHEC as Canada, the United States and Mexico increase educational opportunities to prepare globally knowledgeable citizens able to address our shared challenges and contribute to the region's continued success.
