Key Takeaways: BC Symposium, Advancing Student Support
The second annual BC Symposium: Advancing Student Support brought together 140 attendees at Vancouver Community College (VCC) for two days of insightful discussions, resource sharing, and learning. Hosted by BCCIE in partnership with the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) and supported by VCC, the Symposium created opportunities for international education practitioners to further advance international student support in BC.
The Symposium had a special focus on the new BC IE EQA Code of Practice, creating a shared space to engage in conversations about best practices, priorities, and challenges. Highlights of the event included roundtable discussions, plenary sessions, and concurrent sessions with topics including: career preparation and post-graduation success, immigration advising during policy changes, career advising, and recruiting ethically under the IE Code of Practice. Selected presentations will be available on the BCCIE website soon.
