International Education Update on South India
This update was compiled by BC's Education Marketing Manager under the auspices of BC's Trade and Investment Office in India on selected educational institutes based in South India (Chennai and Bangalore.) The primary objective of this update is to identify opportunities for BC institutions towards partnership and recruitment in the South India region.
Background
South India comprised of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, has been fast emerging as a top destination for higher education especially in the fields of engineering and education. The concentration of industries in South India such as Automobile, Information Technology, and Aviation/Aerospace, has backed this growth and Southern India has been at the forefront when it comes to technical education in the country.
Additionally, students in South India are highly inclined towards academics and higher education pursuits, thus creating a compelling opportunity for Canadian institutions that wish to explore research partnerships, collaboration, and student recruitment.
Opportunities
Education institutions in South India collaborate with countries with the US, UK, Australia, and New Zealand. However, collaboration with Canada is almost negligible. This indicates an opportunity that is underutilized.
An outreach was conducted to selected higher education institutions based in Chennai and Bangalore (the capital cities of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, respectively.) The grid below details preliminary areas of interest and the contact person for these institutions.
Please contact Education Marketing Manager, Rohit Bansal rbansal@britishcolumbia.ca to forward the interest of any BC institutions to any of the South India institutions that are indicated in the grid below.
