Students winners of BC-China Award for Excellence gather in Vancouver
Fifteen student winners of the BC-China Award for Excellence gathered in Vancouver on Thursday, May 24 to celebrate.
The BC-China Award for Excellence in Chinese was created by the British Columbia Ministry of Education and the Education Office of the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Vancouver to help promote the study of Chinese language and culture. The award recognizes BC students who have attained a high level of accomplishment in Mandarin.
It’s a collaborative scholarship program offering up to fifty $500 awards for BC students studying Chinese. Each award is jointly funded by the BC Ministry of Education ($250) and the Chinese Consulate in Vancouver ($250).
Last week’s event was attended by fifteen out of the 50 2018 winners, along with parents/guardians and teachers. Winners were selected by BCCIE. The ceremony took place at the Chinese Consulate General in Vancouver and was co-hosted by the Chinese Consulate General and BC Ministry of Education.
Each student winner received a letter of recognition signed by the Chinese Consulate General and BC Ministry of Education.
