Work Permits and Extensions for International Students
This CPD workshop is designed to prepare immigration professionals and international student advisors and recruiters to advise and represent international students on issues related to immigration regulations regarding work during their period of study in Canada. All stages of work permit applications and extensions will be reviewed. Ethics will be addressed in the context of each subtopic. The workshop covers:
- Eligibility and conditions for on and off-campus work;
- Eligibility to apply for different types of work permits
- What to submit: forms, evidence, and submissions
- Where to submit: Visa Application Centres, visa offices, Ports-of-Entry, Case Processing Centre
- When and how to communicate with CIC
- What to do when problems arise: common practice and ethical issues
- Case studies
