Webinar: Bridging Oceans Through Indigenous Work-Integrated Learning

This session shares how Indigenous Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) brings students and communities together through relationship-building, cultural exchange, and shared learning grounded in Indigenous values. Drawing on the University of Victoria’s Indigenous International Work-Integrated Learning (IIWIL) Exchange with partner institutions in Australia, presenters Renée Livernoche and David Busch will share how the program connects Indigenous students with meaningful community-based placements that honour culture, identity, and relationship building.

Participants will learn about the history and evolution of the IIWIL partnership, the LE,NONET framework that grounds the program, and key lessons learned in supporting Indigenous students’ success through international mobility. Through student stories and program reflections, this presentation highlights the importance of culturally relevant supports, institutional collaboration, and sustained relationship-building in creating ethical and impactful global learning opportunities.
