Save the dates: Team BC Brazil Mission
Introduction
In support of BC’s International Education sector, BCCIE is pleased to announce a coordinated Team BC Brazil Mission this September 16–26, 2016. This initiative follows a very successful Team BC mission undertaken last year that included the participation of 20 BC institutions where relationships were established and strategic linkages pursued with education agents and networks, schools, universities, institutions, and with both state and federal agencies.
Please note that there may be nominal fees associated with some BC value-added events. Registration for fairs is the responsibility of individual schools.
Working itinerary
The BC value-added events include site visits, B2B meetings with local institutions, agents or partners and a Friends of BC Reception. Please refer to the draft working agenda for events taking place in each city.

Expressions of interest from schools and districts to participate in our value-added events and coordinated BC branding will be accepted beginning immediately. Further details of our events will follow upon confirmation of the number of BC participants. Note: again, registration for the actual fairs is the responsibility of individual participants.
Additional background
Canada is currently the most popular study abroad destination for Brazilians. In 2013/14 there were 8,900 Brazilian students in BC alone, a 62% increase from 2009/10. Brazil represents the third fastest growing source market of international students to BC, behind India and China. Recent research underlines that Brazilians choose Canada in part due to affordability, which has never been so important in light of their economic and political crisis. The quality of education in Canada is similar to that in the U.S. but often comes with a lower price tag. Work study programs are also gaining in popularity for economic reasons, so governments that facilitate work opportunities for international students will have an advantage in the Brazil market.
