1) The L’Étudiant Study Abroad Fair is intended for French students who wish to study abroad.
L’Étudiant is one of the major organizers of student recruitment events in Europe. The Paris fair attracts about 27,000 visitors each year and more than 150 exhibitors from 20 countries participated in the 2013 fair. Additional information can be found at http://www.letudiant.fr/etudes/salons/salon-des-etudes-et-des-carrieres-internationales.html
Once again this year, the Canadian Embassy and all participating brand eligible Canadian institutions will be housed in a pavilion under the Imagine Education au/in Canada brand. Please note that the themes for the fair being education and employment, the Visa and Immigration section of the Embassy will also be present.
2) Each year, the Canadian Embassy in France, through the Canadian Cultural Centre, organizes an "Open House" on the margins of l’Étudiant. This event allows all Canadian universities, colleges and language schools coming to Paris for l’Etudiant to present their institution and recruit students on a one-on-one basis. About 300 visitors are expected. The event will be promoted via the Embassy website www.amb-canada.fr as well as on the social networks of the Embassy and the Canadian Cultural Centre.
Market Overview:
France represents an important market for Canadian postsecondary institutions, such as universities, university colleges, community colleges, cegeps, and ESL schools. French students are very interested in Canada, which they ranked as the 5th country where they would like to study. Quebec is the main destination for French students because of language and the historic and cultural ties that bind the province and France but also because they benefit from an agreement which allows French students to pay the same tuition fees as Quebec students. Despite this, more and more students are heading to other provinces to study in English or in French but in Anglophone surroundings. More than 2,800 French youth came to the Cultural Centre in 2012 to participate in the monthly information sessions on studying in Canada and to meet recruiters from Canadian universities and colleges.
