Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI), LLC Private Qualifying Seminar
Vancouver is delighted to host this Private Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI), LLC qualifying seminar. IDI offers both public and “private” or customized IDI Qualifying Seminars. Most IDI Seminars are offered publicly and take place in the US. Offering a “private” seminar will afford interested educators in BC easier access to the training while being delivered by an IDI Qualified Administrator.
The Intercultural Development Inventory® (IDI®) assesses intercultural competence—the capability to shift cultural perspective and appropriately adapt behavior to cultural differences and commonalities. The IDI Assessment is a 50-item questionnaire available online that can be completed in 15–20 minutes and can be administered by licensed IDI Qualified Administrators. Thousands of Qualified Administrators in more than 30 countries have extensively applied the IDI in corporate, non-profit, government, faith-based, and educational contexts.
Attendance at an IDI Qualifying Seminar and consent to a licensing agreement is required to use the IDI Assessment. Participants will receive IDI handouts and materials that include detailed interpretive guidelines, and written descriptions of procedures. During the seminar, participants will:
- Gain proficiency in using the IDI for increasing intercultural competence for individuals, teams, and organizations
- Learn how the IDI differs from traditional measures of intercultural competence
- Learn how to interpret individual and group IDI profiles of intercultural competence
- Practice giving IDI feedback in supportive role-play scenarios
- Receive training and access to use the Intercultural Conflict Style Inventory® (ICS®)
For more information on the ICS, offered by ICS Inventory, LLC, visit www.icsinventory.com.
All participants who complete the IDI Qualifying Seminar are recognized as IDI Qualified Administrators who are licensed to utilize and administer the IDI Assessment.

INSTRUCTOR
Mafalda Arias is an instructor for the IDI Qualifying Seminar and a Qualified Administrator of the IDI. She is the founder of Mafalda Arias and Associates. She has used the IDI to assess groups and measure client developmental progress primarily in the mining and mineral exploration industries with corporations, government, industry associations, and service providers. Mafalda was born, raised, and educated in Lima, Peru, and has over 19 years’ experience working in various capacities in private and public companies in the mineral exploration and mining industries in Canada and South America. As a native of Peru, she is bilingual (Spanish/English) and is conversant in French. Receiving an education in various countries and being able to communicate in three languages, coupled with her experience as an immigrant to Canada, has provoked her curiosity and assisted her in discovering intercultural matters. Mafalda has a Master’s Degree in Intercultural Relations at the University of the Pacific in California. She also has a Business Administration degree from the Universidad de Lima in Peru and a post-graduate certificate in International Commerce from ESAN in Peru.
