Getting Started with Transnational Education: BC’s Institutional Playbook
Transnational Education (TNE) is reshaping the global higher education landscape, and BC institutions are uniquely positioned to leverage their international reputation, diverse student populations, and quality assurance frameworks to extend their reach beyond provincial borders. This one-hour introductory workshop equips BC higher education leaders and practitioners with a clear, practical foundation in TNE—framed around opportunities, realities, and considerations specific to the BC context.
Together, we’ll unpack the global landscape and where Canada—and BC in particular—fit in, explore different delivery models and their risk profiles, and highlight success factors and common pitfalls from international best practices and case studies. We’ll discuss how BC institutions can build on their strengths, and ensure that TNE aligns with their institutional missions, provincial priorities and EQA commitments.
Participants will also gain insights into what to consider internally—from operational readiness and faculty engagement to strategic alignment and realistic timelines—as well as how to create buy-in across campus. The session draws on Edified’s decades of global TNE experience, paired with lived insights from BC-based institutional leaders who have successfully navigated international partnerships.
Interactive polls and Q&A segments will ensure participants leave with practical tips, greater confidence in assessing potential markets and partners, and a clear understanding of how TNE can strengthen their institution’s long-term strategic positioning.
