Ecctis: Evaluating International Qualifications for Admissions Purposes
Overview
This session will help delegates read and understand education documents and therefore be able to evaluate them. The documents considered will be from secondary and HE levels and the case studies used will include documents in the original language as well as translations into English, across a range of markets. Evaluation methodologies will be discussed and there will be a focus on the key resources that can be used to support qualification evaluation.
Delegates will understand how to develop a systematic approach to the evaluation of overseas qualifications, identifying the most able students and making an offer, through the application of their learning to case studies and scenarios.
Objectives
The key objectives of the training are to support trainees to:
- Understand how to apply credential evaluation and assessment theory to reach a final decision regarding qualification comparability
- Understand how the status of an institution may affect the result of a comparison
- Draw on key resources both from Ecctis and externally to support qualification evaluation
- Help develop systematic approaches to deciding whether to accept an application.
Target audience
Recommended for anyone whose work involves evaluation of international qualifications or who works in an admissions context.
