COIL Training Opportunities with AMPEI: PIC Americas
AMPEI (The Mexican Association for International Education) is once again pleased to be offering Collaborative Online Learning (COIL) training for faculty interested in participating in collaborative learning, teaching, or research online with faculty in other countries. This year, their new programming has expanded to include faculty from North America, Central America, and Latin America.
Courses can be taught in English or Spanish and AMPEI is offering scholarships to any faculty teaching at a BC Institution interested in participating in the training.
PIC-AMPEI COIL Initiative
The AMPEI-COIL initiative supports Higher Education Institutions in developing their COIL programs by providing the following benefits:
- Support in identifying potential teaching partners and developing collaborative networks
- COIL design workshops for professors
- Mentoring and personalized support for teachers during the implementation of their COIL component
- Training for COIL coordinators aimed at strengthening institutional capacities to consolidate the program.
Academic Speed Dating Sessions
These sessions provide a platform for faculty to connect with other faculty interested in setting up a COIL program and explore opportunities for collaboration.
October Training Dates:
- October 2
- October 16
- October 30
COIL Design Workshops
Once a faculty member has connected with a partner, they are invited to join a COIL design workshop which covers the fundamentals of COIL methodology, and provides practical, hands-on training and advice for the design of a COIL course.
October Training Dates:
- October 4–25
During the four weeks of the workshop, professors will have asynchronous access to course materials and will also be guided by instructor Karen McBride in live online sessions every Friday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM (CDT).
