Background
The BC Offshore School Program helps meet the goals of B.C.'s International Education Strategy by creating pathways that support international students who are considering coming to B.C. to study, live and work. In 2016/17, approximately 12,500 students studied in BC Offshore School Program located in 8 countries. More than 2,000 students graduate from BC Offshore Schools annually. Among these students, 15 – 20% of graduates will transfer directly into B.C. public post-secondary institutions.
In China, there are 35 certified BC Offshore Schools. With the support of Ministry of Education and Ministry of International Trade, BC Trade and investment Office in Beijing and BCCIE are pleased to invite you to attend the BC Offshore School Mini Fairs in China in the Fall 2017.
Objectives
- Advancing BC PSIs’ recruitment efforts in the China market
- Facilitating a smooth transition for graduates from BC offshore schools in China to PSIs in BC
Note:
- Air travel, local accommodation, and all other expenses will be the individual responsibility of participants.
- Participants who do not speak Chinese may wish to hire an interpreter at their own expense to facilitate presentations and interactions with students, parents and local contacts.
Details are still being defined and will be determined by the levels of institutional interest in the mini fairs. Expressions of interest will be accepted beginning immediately. Further details of our events will follow upon confirmation of the number of BC participants. If interested in attending, kindly submit the signup form below by August 31, 2017.
Note: Depending on availability and interest, tour participants have the option of choosing the stop(s) they would like to participate in. We encourage institutions to consider taking advantage of student recruitment opportunities presented by all stops.
The list of interested BC participants will be submitted to hosting offshore schools for review. Final participant list and program are subject to confirmation by the schools.
