Please note: registration for this event is now closed.
Audience: Educators outside of BC as well as BC public school districts, recognized independent K-12 schools and EQA-designated post-secondary institutions and language schools.
In collaboration with the Canada Chaoshan Business Association, the BC Ministry of Advanced Education and other government partners, BCCIE is coordinating a one-day Education Showcase on the afternoon of August 20, as an important component of the upcoming 18th Convention of the Teochew International Federation (CTIF), August 19–21, 2015 at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
The Teochew International Federation is a symbol of solidarity and development of Teochew people worldwide. The Teochew are an important cultural group and large and affluent diaspora community originally hailing from eastern Guangdong Province.
The Convention will include an official opening ceremony followed by several business sessions. An Education Showcase will be held together with tourism Display and Art Exchange during the session. Not merely a trade show, the Education Showcase will provide a unique opportunity to bring focus attention on BC’s education system to a global and influential group of leaders.
What is the CTIF
The first CTIF took place in 1981 and has been held all over the world. This year it will attract members from over 200 Teochew Associations globally, attracting more than 3000 attendees to Vancouver. The majority of delegates are successful business people from diverse business backgrounds and with strong interest in exploring business, investment and education opportunities in British Columbia. The 18th CTIF is the first to be held in Canada. Representatives from the Canadian and Provincial Governments will officiate the opening ceremony, including a keynote address by Canada’s Minister of International Trade, the Honourable Ed Fast.

Information for participants
What the organizer will provide
BC schools and institutions will share the venue with participants from the BC tourism industry (floor plan is attached). The education portion will be divided into four areas: K-12, PSE, Language, and BCCIE. Due to space limitations, a maximum of 16 eight-foot tables can be placed in the room. Given the number of participating institutions, each table will be shared by two BC institutions/schools. The organizer will provide two chairs for each institution/school. Different departments from the same institution/school can have only one booth.
An LED TV will be prominently displayed in the venue on which institutions/schools will be able to show a two-minute promotional video.
Volunteers arranged by the organizer will help to greet visitors and provide translation services if necessary.
