Maximizing Global Engagement with U.S. Institutional Partners
Dr. Christa Lee Olson on Maximizing Global Engagement with U.S. Institutional Partners
This DVC will provide Canadian academic administrators with an overview of tools to develop and maintain effective international education partnerships. Audiences will learn from Dr. Olson, who has contributed extensively to the study of facilitating factors for North American academic partnerships. Dr. Olson will lead a discussion with academic administrators exploring methods to increase student mobility through one-way and/or two-way academic, research, field study, or other non-traditional exchanges. These exchanges would support the development of long-term academic research projects and partnerships with U.S. universities and research institutions.
These partnerships are especially important because academic administrators who are informed about the means to facilitate and maintain academic partnerships will be able to provide better exchange opportunities to students and therefore contribute to the educational mobility that is at the heart of President Obama’s 100,000 Strong in the Americas initiative.
About the speaker: Currently a professor on sabbatical at Drake University, Dr. Christa Lee Olson is an international initiatives expert and global education strategist. Most recently, Dr. Olson was the Vice Provost, International Programs and professor of the Study of Culture and Society at Drake University in Des Moines, Idaho. There, she led the implementation of Drake’s Internationalization and Global Engagement Strategic Plan and coordinated international activities across campus.
Q&A will follow Dr. Olson’s presentation.
