Jiangsu International Forum for School Principals (cancelled)

In collaboration with the Jiangsu Education Services for International Exchange (JESIE), BCCIE is inviting you to participate in the Jiangsu International Forum for School Principals on Thursday, October 22 at the SFU Harbour Centre, Downtown Vancouver.
The forum has been held in different cities around the world for over 10 years with the purpose of establishing linkages and partnerships, encouraging student exchange visits and teacher training between schools from Jiangsu and other countries. It offers a platform for principals from Jiangsu and overseas to discuss topics of common interest, exchange ideas and experiences of international cooperation of basic education, and further engage in each other’s International Education strategies and forge extensive collaborations. This year, the theme of the Jiangsu International Forum for School Principals will be Cultivation of Productive School Partnerships and Sharing Best Practices about School Administration.
About JESIE
JESIE is an international branch operating under the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education. It is engaged in education services for international exchanges in Jiangsu Province, China. JESIE serves over 45,000 educators and students annually by organizing or facilitating initiatives such as:
- Overseas teacher training programs
- Student exchange programs
- Outbound educational missions
- Establishing Confucius institutes
- Overseas study tours
- Study in China programs
About Jiangsu Province
Located in the Yangtze River Delta, Jiangsu is an Eastern coastal province of China and borders Shanghai to the South. Jiangsu is one of the wealthiest regions in China, following Tianjin, Beijing and Shanghai, in terms of GDP per capita (US$13329 in 2014). Its capital, Nanjing, is a famous ancient city that served as the capital of six dynasties in China including the Republic of China before 1949. The city of Suzhou is renowned for its classical gardens and is the sister city of Victoria, BC. In 2014, there were 5072 kindergartens, 4023 elementary schools (4.7 million students), 2904 secondary schools (3.6 million students) and 134 post-secondary institutions (1.8 million students) in Jiangsu Province. The enrolment rate in 2014 was 100% for Grades 1–9 and 51% for post-secondary education.
