Distinguished education leaders from around BC, Canada and abroad gathered at the Fairmont Chateau in Whistler last night to recognize outstanding achievement in the field of International Education in British Columbia. The International Education Awards, hosted annually by the BC Council for International Education (BCCIE), recognize leaders in five categories: Outstanding Program in International Education, Rising Star in International Education, Excellence in International Education Marketing, International Education Distinguished Leadership, and International Education Lifetime Achievement.
 
2015 Award winners

• The Fraser International College (FIC) Peer Education Program was presented with the Outstanding Program in International Education Award, given to a high quality, creative program in International Education.
• Jobin Mojtabavi of Fairleigh Dickinson University – Vancouver Campus was presented with the Rising Star in International Education Award, recognizing up and coming talent and tomorrow’s leaders in the sector.
• Boris Remes and the Marketing Team at Bodwell High School were given the Excellence in International Education Marketing Award, celebrating success in BC’s education export sector.
• Dave Paul of School District No.36 (Surrey) was presented with the International Education Distinguished Leadership Award, recognizing an educator whose determined leadership will have a lasting effect on the community.
• Margaret Froese of Simon Fraser University earned the International Education Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing the long-term contributions made and far-reaching impacts realized over a career of commitment to International Education in BC.

Each year, the BCCIE International Education Awards recognize the professionalism, dedication and efforts of an exemplary group of experts and practitioners in the diverse field of International Education in BC. Winners represent the broad range of leaders and practitioners from all parts of the sector and showcase the best and brightest in our province.

International Education is currently the fourth largest export sector for BC, generating over 25,500 jobs and contributing over 2.3 billion dollars to the provincial economy in 2012/13.
