News Release: The UG and the Justice Institute of British Columbia Reaffirm Commitment to Support and Collaboration
[Translated from Spanish] Guanajuato, Gto., November 19, 2025 —The University of Guanajuato (UG) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Justice Institute of British Columbia with the aim of maintaining international collaboration and academic development between the two institutions.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Sarah Wareing, Interim Vice-President, Justice Institute of British Columbia, and Dr. Diana del Consuelo Caldera González, the Academic Secretary of the UG.
“This agreement represents a significant milestone in boosting international collaboration, promoting knowledge sharing, and creating innovative opportunities for academic and professional development,” said Dr. Caldera González. “Through this partnership, we reaffirm our commitment to advancing education, research and training initiatives that benefit our academic communities and contribute to global progress. We look forward to working together to build high-impact projects that reflect our shared values and vision for the future.”
For her part, Sarah Wareing thanked the invitation and expressed her desire to strengthen the relationship with the UG and maintain it for many more years.
“We appreciate the warm welcome we have received. Our students will be able to take this experience back to our university, and it will be something they will remember forever. We deeply value the opportunity to collaborate with you and look forward to continuing to build this relationship that will benefit both institutions and our communities.”

María Adriana Aguilera Arrieta, Director of Internationalization of the UG, Dr. Stuart Ruttan, Dean of the School of Criminal Justice & Security and the Office of International Affairs at the Justice Institute of British Columbia, Dr. Randall Martin, Executive Director of the British Columbia Council for International Education, Alfredo Moros Campins, Director of External Relations of the British Columbia Council for International Education, and Mtra. Verónica Soto, Commissioner of Commerce-Education of the Consulate of Canada in Guadalajara.
