BIEE Summer Camp in Beijing, China
BCCIE’s partner, Beijing International Education Exchange (BIEE), the international arm of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission is again delighted to announce the invitation for 40 secondary-school students from across British Columbia to join in the Fifth 2015 Beijing International Student Summer Camp.
On behalf of BIEE, we invite all BC K-12 school districts and schools (both public and independent) to recommend 40 secondary students from across the province, between the ages of 14 to 18, to participate in the program. The camp will take place from July 14 to 23, 2015 in Beijing, China, according to the preliminary program.
These spaces fill up quickly. To encourage diverse provincial and regional participation, we will be asking for a maximum of three students to participate from any one district.
Please RSVP with the number of students you would like to send to Beijing
At this time we do not require the students’ names – as you must establish your own internal selection procedure in and for your own district or school – but we will ask you to tell us before Friday, February 27 how many spaces you will fill from your district or school. Please contact Tom Wang at twang@bccie.bc.ca with this information.
Note: All in-China costs for BC students will be covered by the hosts, BIEE.
Program fees required from each student will include airfare (international air travel and for some participants, domestic BC air travel as well), a China visitor’s visa, medical/travel insurance and a $200 program administration fee. The total of these fees should come to no more than $2000 per person. The cost of accommodation, meals, local transportation, tuition and local activities in China will be fully covered by BIEE, and students are also encouraged to bring spare cash for personal use. Please note that in the past some districts have covered some or all of the fees for their participating students and your support in this fashion will be appreciated.
We will also be in need of four (4) chaperones / teachers. Districts are welcome to nominate a teacher to accompany the group. All costs related to the chaperone’s participation will need to be covered by the chaperone or his/her school district.
This again promises to be a life-altering experience for a group of 40 high school students from across our province and we would encourage your support and participation.
