VACC International Conference 2023
The Vietnam Association of Community Colleges (VACC), and its Canadian partners CICan (Colleges and Institutes Canada), Nova Scotia Community College, and BCCIE (British Columbia Council for International Education), will be co-hosting an international conference March 20-21 in Tra Vinh, Vietnam. The conference will work upon the strong and long-standing foundation of Canada-Vietnam academic engagement and will advance existing partnerships in order to better serve our respective domestic and international education sectors and benefit students, staff, institutions and communities.
The two-day conference follows APAIE 2023 and will focus on the theme of “Developing Sustainable Partnerships Between Canada and Vietnam in Education and Vocational Training.”
2023 marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relationship between Vietnam and Canada, and this conference will be a testament to the success of the Canadian community college model in Vietnam and is designed to establish and strengthen partnerships between institutions in Canada and VACC members.
Conference sessions and networking sessions will involve speakers from both Vietnam and Canada and will involve themes including the following:
- Digital transformations in teaching and learning
- Opportunities for collaboration in vocational training
- Global Skills Opportunities
- International partnerships
- UN Sustainable Development Goals in higher education institutions
Deliverables:
- Potential for partnership development in key areas of mutual interest for vocational training and labour market development
- Potential for downstream joint programming and modest student recruitment pathways

Location:
Tra Vinh University (TVU) is the home base for VACC. Tra Vinh University, formerly Tra Vinh Community College, was established in 2006 under the framework of the “Vietnam- Canada Community College Project” funded by CIDA, Canada. The network is considered the most successful community college model in Vietnam.
Dates:
Flying time between Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City is one hour and 40 minutes, and suggested travelling is for Saturday, March 18. The drive between Ho Chi Minh City and Tra Vinh is approximately two hours.
