Team BC Southeast Asia Mission (The Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia)
In support of BC’s International Education sector, BCCIE is pleased to announce a coordinated BCCIE and Team BC Mission – Southeast Asia Fall 2018 Engagement taking place from October 3–23, 2018. This initiative will take place in the Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia and will focus on building upon the relationships and strategic linkages that were established with education agents and networks, schools, universities, institutions, and with provincial and national agencies. The working itinerary includes attendance at EduCanada fairs, agent training, partnership development visits, and other value-added activities in established and emerging markets in Manila, Cebu, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Surabaya and Jakarta.
Target Audience: K-12 schools and districts, EQA-designated post-secondary institutions and language schools
Deadline: August 17, 2018 for expression of interest for participating in BC Value-Added Events and BC Branding at Fairs
Please see below for deadlines for fair registration.
Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)
With a population exceeding 600 million, ASEAN nations represent approximately 9% of the global population. As a group of countries, the 10-member states of ASEAN represent Canada’s sixth-largest trading partner. Of primary interest to the BC education sector are the growing economies and middle classes (aspiring to more and better than indigenous education systems can yet provide) and the large and youthful markets of the Philippines (population 103 million; median age 24.1); Vietnam (92 m; age 30.4), Indonesia (261 m: age 28). Each in its own way presents opportunities for increased and varied engagement with the BC education sector and for the measured and diverse growth of international student numbers to BC.
Opportunity for growth in partnership development is also at the forefront of the BCCIE and Team BC Mission in SE Asia for Fall 2018. The recent Canada-ASEAN Scholarships for Educational Exchanges and Development (SEED) program and Canada’s membership in the University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific consortium provide opportunities for the development of reciprocal institutional collaborations between BC and ASEAN post-secondary institutions.
