Student Exchange Program for Latin America and the Caribbean
Global Affairs Canada has launched its 2018-2019 Student Exchange Program (SEP) for Latin American and Caribbean citizens wishing to study, conduct research or pursue professional development in Canada.
The SEP scholarships promote partnerships, student mobility and research collaborations between Canadian and Latin American and Caribbean post-secondary institutions.
The SEP is comprised of four programs that will offer approximately 650 short-term scholarships, at the college, undergraduate and graduate levels, tenable during the 2017-2018 academic year.
The four programs are:
- Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program;
- Canada-Chile Leadership Exchange Scholarship;
- Canada-CARICOM Leadership Scholarships Program; and
- Canada-CARICOM Faculty Leadership Program.
For 2016-17, 687 students from 35 countries in Latin American and the Caribbean participated in this program attending 87 Canadian institutions in 10 provinces.
SEP's scholarships are facilitated through institutional collaborations and student exchange agreements between postsecondary institutions in Canada and Latin America and the Caribbean. Institutions in Latin Americas and the Caribbean are responsible to provide the names of eligible candidates to the Canadian partner institutions. Canadian colleges and universities are responsible to submit applications on behalf of students, researchers, faculty and international liaison officers/managers from eligible countries by April 24, 2018.
More information about the application process and eligibility criteria, for each individual SEP, is available on the International scholarships program's website.
