Webinar Summary
The Education Sector is one of the most promising areas for further enhancing Canada’s engagement in Turkey. In particular, Turkey is a market that offers great potential for recruiting qualified students of all levels to study in Canada. Our experts from the Canadian Consulate General office in Istanbul are organizing a number of education activities in the next few months, including the coordination of a Canada pavilion at the IEFT Education Fair Roadshow in Turkey from March 8-17 to assist Canadian institutions and schools with their recruitment efforts. During the webinar, you will have the opportunity to learn more about these activities and events and obtain an overview of the market opportunities to support your strategies in Turkey.
Market Profile
A number of factors come together to make Turkey, a member of the G-20, a rising star: size and relative political stability; strong economic growth (GDP increased by 9.0% in 2010 and 8.5% in 2011); a growing middle class; and a young, eager and tech-savvy population – approximately 35 million people in Turkey are under the age of 30 – close to half of the population. Turkey sends over 50,000 students abroad every year, 3,000 of which go to Canada. We are in fourth place among English speaking destinations, after the UK, US, and Australia. With increased branding and promotion over the last few years, we have seen encouraging growth in the number of Turkish students in Canada.
