The 21st century shows an increased interaction between people with different cultural backgrounds. Student mobility numbers have increased rapidly. Students and staff that are active in this international environment need to be equipped with relevant intercultural competences. This workshop provides an opportunity for educators and international officers to learn hands-on educational methods that can be used to train students to get ready for a stay abroad or welcome international students to your campus. With the use of interactive working methods, such as games and role plays, the participants will get acquainted with the concepts of culture, culture shock, cross-cultural communication and cultural adaption of students. Furthermore In addition to rich practical part, we will introduce and discuss research-based approaches to asses students’ intercultural competences. The workshop will also provide ample space for the participants to reflect on their own needs and background, and the participants will formulate practical take-aways for themselves and their institutions with the greater aim to reach out to their students.
