All-Kazakhstan International Education Fair (AKIEF) 2014
The Canadian Embassy in Kazakstan is pleased to invite your participation at the 2014 edition of the AKIEF fairs. Last year, 88 institutions from nineteen countries participated and more than 5500 visitors attended the fairs in four cities of Kazakhstan. The Fairs will provide an excellent opportunity for all participating institutions to tap into Kazakhstan's student market and gain access to a large number of potential applicants.
The fair organizers, Globus Education Ltd will facilitate an information exchange session for participating institutions and local education agents. Each fair day will provide participating institutions with booths and meeting spaces. Translators will be present and made available. A promotional campaign will also be undertaken by Globus to assure a quality audience, and a fair catalogue will be produced allotting one page in the English, Russian, and Kazakh languages to each participating institution.
Speedy economic and social development of Kazakhstan has resulted in an acute need for workers with advanced western education. This is an important contributing factor to the popularization of overseas education, particularly in the English-speaking countries.
Kazakhstan is among the world’s top 15 countries with the highest number of students studying abroad. Kazakhstan is in second place after Russia in the Commonwealth of Independent States (former Soviet Republics) in the number of students studying abroad.
Kazakhstan has more and more wealthy citizens. The local universities are expensive and do not consistently offer quality diplomas. These two facts justify why so many Kazakh students choose to study overseas to get a superior value education for their money. To counter this issue, the Kazakh government also started the Bolashak program several years ago. The purpose of this program is to provide full scholarships to Kazakh students who wish to study in quality Master or PhD programs in foreign universities. The annual budget of the Bolashak program is 100 million dollars.
The embassy of Canada in Astana will be represented in each city and will be available to answer questions.
