Team BC Fall China Mission

In support of BC’s International Education sector, BCCIE coordinated a Team BC Mission to China from October 20–28, 2018. The mission took place during the China Education Expo (CEE), the largest event dedicated to international student recruitment in China. BCCIE worked closely with Education Marketing Managers in China to offer BC value-added events, including recruitment, partnership building, and networking opportunities for all educational stakeholders participating in the mission.

BC Offshore School Mini Fairs

With the support of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Jobs, Trade and Technology, and the BC Trade and Investment Office in Beijing, BCCIE coordinated three BC offshore school mini fairs in the cities of Lanzhou, Beijing, and Changchun, China.

The delegation met with school administrators, counsellors, and more than 400 Grade 10–12 students currently studying at a BC off shore school. The objective of the mini fairs is to advance BC post-secondary recruitment efforts in the China market and facilitate smooth transitions for graduates to post-secondary institutions in BC. Sixteen BC EQA designated post-secondary institutions from both public and private sectors participated.

Promoting BC’s education system

During the mission, BCCIE coordinated a meeting in Lanzhou to help BC post-secondary schools establish new relationships with agents in the city. BCCIE also held a seminar on the BC credit transfer system to increase awareness among agencies in Shanghai and Nanjing, and to better support BC institutions’ recruitment efforts in these cities.

Future collaborations

BCCIE met with the Beijing International Education Exchange Centre, the China Education Association for International Exchange, the China Scholarship Council, and the China Service Centre for Scholarly Exchange to discuss new opportunities for collaborations in the coming year.
