The British Columbia Council for International Education (BCCIE) in collaboration with the Vietnam Association of Community Colleges (VACC) will co-host a conference in January 2019 in the ancient city of Huế, in central Vietnam. The conference will work upon the strong and long-standing foundation of Canada-Vietnam academic engagement and will advance BCCIE’s and VACC’s existing partnership in order to better serve our respective domestic and international education sectors and benefit students, staff, institutions and communities. The conference will be practical, hands-on and immediate in its stated goal of creating platforms for the introduction or strengthening of bilateral partnerships of mutual benefit.
VACC has committed to inviting its over 60 college sector members, while BCCIE will engage leaders and decision makers from BC’s and Canada’s college, polytechnic, institute and teaching university systems to attend and participate in this inaugural conference.
Thematically, the conference will focus on partnership development between VACC members and BC and Canadian partners. Sub-themes will include topics such as:
This conference will also introduce and launch a Vietnam-Canada Institutional Partnership Initiative. This institutional mentoring initiative will provide a platform for BC and Canadian colleges and universities to partner with an attending VACC college or university in order to support sustainability and transferability of knowledge, skills and opportunities for collaboration.
The Conference is being co-hosted by BCCIE and VACC and is endorsed by BC Colleges (BCC), the BC Association of Institutes and Universities (BCAIU), Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) and Langara College.
